PROTEST SONG

TRACY CHAPMAN - TALKIN' BOUT A REVOLUTION

LYRICS:

Don't you know
They're talkin' 'bout a revolution
It sounds like a whisper
Don't you know
They're talkin' about a revolution
It sounds like a whisper

While they're standing in the welfare lines
Crying at the doorsteps of those armies of salvation
Wasting time in the unemployment lines
Sitting around waiting for a promotion

Don't you know
Talkin' 'bout a revolution
It sounds like a whisper
Poor people gonna rise up
And get their share
Poor people gonna rise up
And take what's theirs

Don't you know
You better run, run, run, run, run, run, run, run, run, run, run, run
Oh I said you better
Run, run, run, run, run, run, run, run, run, run, run, run

'Cause finally the tables are starting to turn
Talkin' bout a revolution
Yes, finally the tables are starting to turn
Talkin' bout a revolution, oh no
Talkin' bout a revolution, oh

While they're standing in the welfare lines
Crying at the doorsteps of those armies of salvation
Wasting time in the unemployment lines
Sitting around waiting for a promotion

This song it's a protest song because it talks about a revolution. Also explains the conditions and the situation about poor people when it's says "Poor people gonna rise up, and get their share, poor people gonna rise up, and take what's theirs". They are fighting for what it's theirs, and they want big changes in their life.

The Beatles' song very clear example of a protest song. First because says things about a revolution and also says that people want to change the world.

I like this song because we did it in the musical last year, and it remember me lots of things. And I like it for the power that it has and because it is made by a very famous group.
